DokuWiki-question

Hi Felix, welcome to WikiIndex! My question: do you know how to obtain the page count for DokuWikis. I'm working on size categorization of wikis, thanks in advance! --Wolf | talk 02:30, 27 September 2007 (EDT)

If there is a way, I haven't found it yet. I see two ways to find out: either ask the developers or snoop around in the source code. I can do both, but it has to wait for the week-end. -- Felix Pleşoianu | talk 10:18, 27 September 2007 (EDT)
It would be great, if you could do this. --87.160.159.87 13:39, 27 September 2007 (EDT) -- that's me: --Wolf | talk 13:40, 27 September 2007 (EDT)

Sysop

Hi Felix, I have made you a sysop of WikiIndex. Hopefully the extra tools will make it just a bit easier for you to do what you do here. :-) peace, --TedErnst | talk 12:21, 7 October 2007 (EDT)

I'm honored. -- Felix Pleşoianu | talk 23:38, 11 October 2007 (EDT)
And now that you are a sysop, you can use the "rollback" link instead of the "undo". This has two benefits. One is that it's one less click for you. The other is that it automatically "patrols" that bad edit, which means it doesn't show up on Recent changes with a red exclamation point. This is important because it makes less work for others cleaning up vandalism or spam. Confused yet?  :-) TedErnst | talk 10:14, 13 October 2007 (EDT)
I was wondering what it's for. Thanks for the tip! -- 85.204.141.137 14:10, 13 October 2007 (EDT)

Sysop-tag

Hi Felix, there's a new {{sysop}} that can be used to tag users, which are currently active sysops. I think this will be good, because only sysops have the right to block/unblock and if someone feels blocked he needs help. --Wolf | talk 06:42, 13 October 2007 (EDT)

Got it. -- Felix Pleşoianu | talk 09:20, 13 October 2007 (EDT)
Thank you for using the tag. Is there a page on WikiIndex, where a user can address all admins, in case he or she needs help urgently? Should we make the talk page of category:Active administrators of this wiki to that place? --Wolf | talk 16:04, 13 October 2007 (EDT)
Why not, I don't have any better idea right now. -- Felix Pleşoianu | talk 01:52, 14 October 2007 (EDT)
Good, you have it on your watchlist? Regards --Wolf | talk 06:34, 14 October 2007 (EDT)
I do now -- Felix Pleşoianu | talk 07:36, 14 October 2007 (EDT)

You have 2 talk pages

Hi Felix, I discovered right now that you have two talk pages. Maybe, you should redirect the page Talk:Felix Pleşoianu to User talk:Felix after you have copied the contents. Best regards --Wolf | talk 05:50, 1 November 2007 (EDT)mistakes corr. --Wolf | talk 06:29, 1 November 2007 (EDT)

And I watch them both. But you're probably right. I don't remember why I haven't done this in the first place. -- Felix Pleşoianu | talk 07:20, 1 November 2007 (EDT)
Hi Felix :-) just a pitch for the cross pointing of personal pages in the main namespace and talk pages in the user namespace. I like people in the main namespace because we are just as important as anything that is being worked on :-) Wikimedia does however have some qualities turned on in the user namespace, like easy links to contributions and email if you have that available. Just a thought! Glad you are here, best, MarkDilley
So you're saying that my user page should redirect to my personal page, but for the talk page it should be the other way around? This is confusing.
That's confusing, but better. With your talk, page on the user-namespace, you get a hint displayed on each page you visit, that links to your user talk when somebody modifies your talk page. That's often faster than mail and independent from the infrastructure your wiki access point (no mail client needed). I also suggest to move this talk page to User talk:Felix --Wolf | talk 03:33, 14 November 2007 (EST)

Duplicate entries

Hey there, Felix. If you come across duplicate entries, just redirect one to the other. Typos and former names are all good things to make into redirects. — User:Sean Fennel@ 14:00, 8 September 2007 (EDT)

I figured that would be the way to go, but I wanted to be sure first. I'm new, you know. Felix Pleşoianu | talk 04:30, 9 September 2007 (EDT)

What do you think about external WikiIndex entry points?

Hi Felix, as I noted in my talk page, please have a look on Proposal:WikiIndex Pages on indexed Wikis --Wolf | talk 07:03, 3 October 2007 (EDT)

tip for IP-hunting

if you see a dfuzicb-junkie, click at the IP to see all contributions from this IP, in nearly all cases they have the same characteristics. You get a list of contribs, and if they are marked with top than you click on diff. There you can click on rollback and even on block. In my opinion 3 days seems to be ok, because the spam on a handful pages a day, as to say: slowly -- hunters greeting!, Wolf | talk 16:10, 9 October 2007 (EDT)

Thank you for the advice. -- Felix Pleşoianu | talk 22:56, 9 October 2007 (EDT)
Felix, please have a look on WikiProject:Junking bots and add your own experiences. Best regards --Wolf | talk 05:50, 13 October 2007 (EDT)

Thank you...

...for reviewing. What do you think, should we be more detailed on this page? --Wolf | talk 01:09, 30 October 2007 (EDT)

You're welcome. Better keep the text at this length, I think. Many people can't be bothered to read even that much. -- Felix Pleşoianu | talk 03:20, 30 October 2007 (EDT)
OK, what about other languages like, for instance, German? ;-) --Wolf | talk 03:31, 30 October 2007 (EDT)
That's different. Translating the message would be useful. I can do French, if nobody else volunteers. -- Felix Pleşoianu | talk 03:40, 30 October 2007 (EDT)
We can integrate a small navibar for the available languages, so the text an every single (sub)page keeps small. The german page would be Anmelden / Konto anlegen --Wolf | talk 03:52, 30 October 2007 (EDT)
Only if it's not too much trouble. The different languages should "chunk" the text well enough anyway. -- Felix Pleşoianu | talk 06:14, 30 October 2007 (EDT)
What do you think about this solution? --Wolf | talk 16:35, 30 October 2007 (EDT)
Just Fine (tm). -- Felix Pleşoianu | talk 00:09, 31 October 2007 (EDT)
Do you want to do the french translation? --Wolf | talk 02:32, 31 October 2007 (EDT)
Sure. Later today, I hope. -- Felix Pleşoianu | talk 06:22, 31 October 2007 (EDT)

personal material on your userpage

Please keep personal material on your user page, Elassint asked you to do that before. Proxima Centauri 09:46, 9 March 2009 (EDT)

I reiterated with Elassint and Proxima Centauri that it is norm for names of wiki people to be in the main namespace - let me know what your thoughts are on this. Best, MarkDilley
I don't understand. Everyone's user page redirects to a page in the main namespace. It's been like that ever since I joined. Felix Pleşoianu | talk 13:45, 9 March 2009 (EDT)

Dispute Resolution

Hey Felix, wanted to see if you were interested in dispute resolution, my suggestion is here ~~ MarkDilley

About that "dispute resolution"... (-;

Hi. Sorry to bug you but we need 3 sysops to get the following articles unprotected. There is basically no one that wants them protected, as far as I can tell. We are not really sure of the purpose of this but, only that you are supposed to decide when we get to move them back out <shrug>. (Notice the statement at the top of these pages):

Hi Felix, can you check out, contribute if you want - WikiIndex:Admin Notes#October 2010 Upgrade Thoughts - best, MarkDilley

Upgrade and logo stuff - open to all

Please check out WikiIndex:New logo decision and WikiIndex:Spring 2011 Upgrade Path, Best, MarkDilley

narrowing down the problem with email verification

I (Manorainjan ;-) assume, that Your account is email-verified. Please add the domain part of Your email to this Table of results so that we can see more clearly, which servers work and which not.

Request for server move concerns

I wanted to be sure to draw your attention to the upcoming server move and solicit your help in making the transition a positive rather than negative experience. Please take a moment to visit WikiIndex:Server move 2014 and curate the list of concerns.
