The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is the main international standards organisation for the World Wide Web (WWW). They maintain web standards such as HTML, XML, CSS, SOAP, SVG, etc. (The web is one of the biggest applications on the internet). The W3C has a formal track for making standards specifications. The specifications answer a lot of questions, but not all of them.

This ESW Wiki, founded in 2003 originally using TWiki, is for connecting the people who make the specifications with the people who build on them. Having then converted to MoinMoin, this ESW Wiki site was abandoned late 2009 (due to the inability to control wiki spam on MoinMoin); it migrated to use the ubiquitous MediaWiki wiki engine, initially retaining the same ESW Wiki name, but subsequently took on a new identity and name: W3C Wiki.

This wiki has been automatically migrated to Mediawiki on 2010-03-16. The old version will be available until the end of May 2010 at http://ESW-old.W3.org to help fix bugs that may have been introduced during the migration.
Only logged in users can edit this Wiki. A W3C Web Account is needed to log in.
