The CouchSurfing Wiki is probably one of the very few wikis (the first?) where the founder of the wiki cannot edit the wiki anymore.
CS' historical mission statement from about the mid-2000s is:
CouchSurfing, a free internet-based hospitality service, seeks to internationally network people and places, create educational exchanges, raise collective consciousness, spread tolerance and facilitate cultural understanding.As a community we strive to do our individual and collective parts to create the world a better place, and we believe that the surfing of couches is a means to accomplish this goal.
Phrases highlighted indicate doubt towards the consistency the stated goals have been pursued with.
In 2009 Couchwiki has been started by the same person who started the original CouchSurfing wiki.

The CouchSurfing wiki is scheduled to be deleted on December 14th 2012.
Since the deletion has taken place meanwhile, the way to still access (parts of) the original wiki is by use of the waybackmachine on the Internet Archive. (The ′couchsurfing.org′ page the wiki was originally related to, has purposefully excluded itself from public scrutiny through the Internet Archive.)
