Psiram – Realismus als Chance — ist ein geschlossenes Wiki, welches Themen aus der Esoterik (en), den Grenzwissenschaften und der alternativen Medizin aufgreift und darüber aus kritischer, aufgeklärter Sicht berichtet [1]. Es gibt auch ein Blog [2] und ein Forum [3]. Die weit überwiegende Anzahl der Artikel (aktuell: 3706) sind auf deutsch verfasst. Inzwischen werden auch vier weitere Sprachversionen angeboten.
- Geschichte
Die Webpräsenz wurde am 1. Juni 2007 unter dem Namen EsoWatch.com gestartet. Im 7. Juli 2012 wurde sie in Psiram umbenannt. (Guido Watermann: Esowatch heißt jetzt Psiram, Telepolis vom 13. Juli 2012).
- Öffentliche Beurteilung
Die erste größere öffentliche Rezeption erfolgte im deutschen Online Magazin Heise / Telepolis (Fabian Kunow: Licht ins Dunkel des Irrationalen, Telepolis vom 17. Mai 2008). Der Psiram-Article über Prahlad Jani wurde im Science-Blog Physiology explains it all: Pharyngula (en) erwähnt. Der Artikel über Nachtmilchkristalle wurde vom The Guardian (en) erwähnt (übersetzt).
Ein deutsches Gericht stützte ein Urteil teilweise auf den (damals) auf Esowatch angeführten Argumenten [4]. Desweiteren wurde Datenmaterial von Esowatch für eine Umfrage im österreichischen Parlament verwendet.[5]

Psiram – Realism as a chance — is a closed wiki taking a sceptical look at esoterics, pseudoscience (fringe sciences), and New Age believes. A blog [6] and a forum [7] are also offered. All authors use anonymous nicknames, the operator is unknown. The anonymity is explained with negative experiences by identifiable critics of New Age beliefs [8]. Most of the articles are written in German (approximately: 3706), with approximately 114 articles available in English. Four other language versions are now also offered.

The platform founded on 01 June 2007 with the name EsoWatch.com. On 7 July 2012, the platform was renamed Psiram. (Guido Watermann: Esowatch heißt jetzt Psiram (de), Esowatch is now called Psiram (translated), Telepolis, 13 July 2012).
- Public reception
The first major public reception was 2008 in the German online magazine Heise / Telepolis (Fabian Kunow: Licht ins Dunkel des Irrationalen (de), Light into the darkness of the irrational (translated), Telepolis, 17 May 2008). Psiram's article on Prahlad Jani was referenced in the science blog Physiology explains it all: Pharyngula. Their article on night milk crystals was referenced by the The Guardian.
A German court based a decision partly on arguments collected by Esowatch [9]. Further, data from Esowatch was used in an inquiry in the Austrian parliament.[10][11]
