I thought I saw an edit from you at switchwiki yesterday changing from Tristrams past tense (switchwiki was an effort to blah blah) to present tense (switchwiki is an effort to blah blah) which made me think you still weren't ready. Any reason not to wipe out the letters at SW that are already over here, leaving only the soft-redirect with an explanation, and not actual content? I would like to see all of our various discrete tasks broken down into "projects" that have clear instructions and a place to talk about that task with others. [[Project Unknown]] is one of these. I'd like to see us have a [[Project Migrate Wiki List to Wiki]] and a [[Project Upload Logos]] etc, etc. I'll attempt to set these up as I go, but if you're teaching others how to do these takes (RAY), or are doing them yourself (everyone), then please document it. The projects can overlap, so don't worry about that. We probably need a [[:category:WikiProjects]] or something like that as well. That can come later. Just put them in [[:Category:WikiIndex]] for now. How's this sound? closing down switchwiki
I don't understand this page. TedErnst 13:18, 18 Jan 2006 (EST)
- It is an effort to chunck out the work of getting this wiki in a state that is good enough to launch on the internet
I have now copied the updates from WorldWideWiki pages V, and K. I have left a warning to these pages that they are no longer maintained. And I have put an announcement about WikiIndex in a central page. Tristram Shandy 16:23, 18 Jan 2006 (EST)
Opps Tristram, I didn't see this note. Should I revert those pages? Do you feel it is premature to tag the front page? I thought there was discussion on MoveSwitchWiki about leaving that project active untill this project was ready to launch? Does anyone remember that discussion? Best, MarkDilley
- for example, I don't think we are ready to announce to these folks yet: http://www.worldwidewiki.net/wiki/SwitchWiki/referrers MarkDilley
- thinking that it is time...to start linking?
- Not sure what is meant by linking, but I don't see any reason to hold back on folks know what we're doing --Raymond King | talk 03:00, 23 Feb 2006 (EST)
- Changing the links from SwitchWiki to WikiIndex! :-)
- Ah, ok, that makes sense :-)

Mark, what are you internal requirements for this place "being ready" and thus turning switch-wiki into a soft-redirect? And do you have higher standards for when it's ready for a hard-redirect (if that's even possible)? TedErnst | talk 13:05, 7 Mar 2006 (EST)
- This bulk of this convesation was from the first week of us being on the internet. It was based on my understanding of a conversation had between John, Ray and myself about when we would be ready to let people know that we were here. I felt like posting to SwitchWiki in the first week or two was too soon. So I would have to say I didn't have any "internal" requirements for this place "being ready." SwitchWiki is a soft redirect at its main page, K and V. Over at WorkInProgress there is a process for moving over and soft redirecting SwitchWiki. Links to SwitchWiki have been converted in the last few weeks as well. Does this make sense? MarkDilley | talk

overhaul of this page
I would like to see all of our various discrete tasks broken down into "projects" that have clear instructions and a place to talk about that task with others. Project Unknown is one of these. I'd like to see us have a Project Migrate Wiki List to Wiki and a Project Upload Logos etc, etc. I'll attempt to set these up as I go, but if you're teaching others how to do these takes (RAY), or are doing them yourself (everyone), then please document it. The projects can overlap, so don't worry about that. We probably need a category:WikiProjects or something like that as well. That can come later. Just put them in Category:WikiIndex for now.
