'''This is not a policy page'''

Pages should only be protected as a last resort to stop an edit war or chronic vandalism, or to prevent vandalism of high-visibility pages. If semi-protection will suffice to stop the edit war or vandalism, then it should be used. Protection duration should only be indefinite for high-visibility pages.

Protected pages come in two levels: block unregistered users and sysops only.

  • Block unregistered users means that only registered users can edit.
  • Sysops only means that only users with system operator access levels can edit. Click here for a list of such people.

When protecting a page, the user also can choose if s/he wants to move-protect it.
Some pages are protected because they are constantly recreated.
