A cross-namespace redirect is a redirect from one namespace to another.
It is commonly seen on sites such as MediaWiki.org that have more content in other namespaces (e.g. Manual:, Extension:, etc.) than in their mainspace. On Wikipedia, redirects from mainspace to Project: space are discouraged, since readers could accidentally stumble into meta wiki content.
