Old Prussian (''Prūsiskai'') is an extinct {{Wp|Baltic languages#Western Baltic languages †|western Baltic language}} belonging to the {{Wp|Balto-Slavic languages|Balto-Slavic branch}} of the {{Wp|Indo-European languages|Indo-European languages}}, once spoken by the {{Wp|Old Prussians}}, the {{tag|Baltic}} peoples of the {{Wp|Prussia (region)|Prussian region}}.  The language is called Old Prussian to avoid confusion with the [[:Category:German|German]] dialects of {{Wp|Low Prussian dialect|Low Prussian}} and {{Wp|High Prussian dialect|High Prussian}}, and with the adjective 'Prussian' as it relates to the later [[:Category:Germany|German]] state.
