Category: Custom skin — this category here on WikiIndex contains wiki sites which have been assessed as having a 'custom skin'. A 'skin' is the term used to describe the standard look in which the web page is rendered, or presented on screen, when using standard software. All wiki engines are supplied with a default standard skin. Some wiki engines may also be supplied with one or more alternative skins, which are supplied as a standard inclusion within the software package; or as pre-configured stand-alone downloadable extensions, plug-ins, or add-ons. Those pre-packaged alternative skins do not come under the realms of this particular category. A 'custom skin' is one where the wiki owners (or other members of their wiki community, or even paid external consultants!) have modified the look and feel of the default software settings to their own unique custom style; sometimes quite dramatically, sometimes to the point of being unrecognisable from the originally supplied wiki engine software.
The wiki site articles are included below in this category in 'good faith'. WikiIndex editors can not know every officially available skin for every wiki engine; so if anyone does happen to discover an article wrongly (mistakenly) included in this category (or indeed any other category), please do edit said article accordingly to correct any wrong information, thanks.
