The idea for Ratchetpedia came to UxieLover1994 around October 2011 while she was editing the now-defunct [[Spyropedia]], and after several months of working with Sove &mdash; a friend of UxieLover1994 &mdash; the site finally came into existence.

* Ratchet & Clank wiki is pro-Wikia and proud of it. Ratchetpedia is anti-Wikia, and jealous of their counterpant's rankings.


Due to these differences the Ratchetpedia administration claims that their wiki is more fair then their wikia counterpart. Ratchetpedia tends to use an editing style similar to that of both the defunct Spyropedia and the [[Kingdom Hearts Wiki]]. It aspires to be unique, hopefully with its own unique templates and skin at some point in the future. The site is a strong follower of the IWAs and even wishes to be accepted among the IWA one day. Ratchetpedia has claimed that it will be very happy to affiliate with any wiki that's independent, no matter what size or topic, but will always deny a site that's a part of any wiki farms, especially Wikia.

It was originally intended to become an independent ''Ratchet & Clank'' encyclopedia, but after a partnership with the [[Ratchet & Clank wiki|''Ratchet & Clank'' wiki]] was created (ending several disputes) Ratchetpedia's role was changed to become a community hub, becoming a ''Ratchet & Clank'' resource site for fans. It was decided that Ratchetpedia would cover walkthroughs and other Ratchet & Clank resources, while producing simpler articles about key aspects of the series which linked to the ''Ratchet & Clank'' wiki for further information.
