'''Project pages''' on a [[WhatIsWiki|wiki site]] are those pages dealing with, or referring to the actual wiki site itself, the [[wiki]] internals, also known as '[[:Category:Meta|meta]]' (which means referring to itself, or self-referential). On wiki sites powered by [[:Category:MediaWiki|MediaWiki]] (including this {{tag|WikiIndex}} wiki site), a standard default project [[namespace]] will be automatically created by the MediaWiki software; in our case, this is the '<tt>WikiIndex:</tt>' namespace (where all {{Cambridge-Dictionary|meta}} project pages will follow the 'WikiIndex:Pagetitle' naming {{Cambridge-Dictionary|schema}}).

As an example, if you have a wiki site about [[:Category:Dogs|dogs]], the [[Wiki main page|main page]] (and all article pages in the <u>main</u> namespace) will be about dogs, and the 'project pages' are about how to manage that specific wiki site that collects information about dogs.  Here on [[WikiIndex]], it might sometimes appear a little confusing, because this WikiIndex wiki is the '''wiki of wikis'''.  Therefore, our project pages and our main pages are all dealing about wiki maters as well!
