Neoseeker promotes itself as an [https://neowiki.neoseeker.com/wiki/Alternative_To_Wikia alternative to Wikia].  Whilst it is true that NeoWikis are free to create, {{tag|Free MediaWiki wiki farm|free to host}}, and free of enforced politics, with no annoying pop-ups, 'less' {{tag|advertising}}, and claim to "have a strong focus on our community", it would appear they are a valid alternative to Wikia.  However, it is <u>crucial</u> to note that unlike [[:Category:Wikia|Wikia]] who primarily use the free-to-share [[:Category:Wiki Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike|Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike]] (CC-BY-SA) license, Neoseeker are the exact opposite, in that every wiki must agree to {{tag|Wiki Site retains copyright|sign over copyright}} to its parent company, Neo Era Media, Inc.<ref>[https://neowiki.neoseeker.com/wiki/NeoWiki_Wiki_-_Neoseeker:Copyrights NeoWiki Wiki - Neoseeker: Copyrights]; ''NeoWiki.Neoseeker.com''; Neo Era Media, Inc.; accessed 8 October 2018.</ref>  One major and reassuring advantage over Wikia is that all NeoWikis are accessed by the '{{Cambridge-Dictionary|http}}s' {{Cambridge-Dictionary|ssl|SSL}}, or 'Secure Sockets Layer' secure connection protocol.<!--as certified by whom?-->  It is also important to note that in order to [https://neowiki.neoseeker.com/wiki/Special:Createwiki create a new wiki site], one must be a [https://www.neoseeker.com/accounts/register.html Neoseeker registered] [[user]] (which includes {{tag|ConfirmEmail|confirming an e-mail address}}), and then [[:Category:LoginToEdit|logging-in]] before being allowed to create said new wiki site.
