As of March 2013, [[Wikimedia Meta-Wiki]] indicates that there are [[Meta-Wiki:Wikinews#Wikinews Statistics|33 Wikinews versions]] in different [[:Category:Wiki Language|languages]], with the [[Serbian Wikinews|Serbian]] version being the largest with over 70,000 articles, followed by the [[English Wikinews|English]] version just shy of 20,000 articles.  New languages added when there is significant support for the language. Meta-Wiki historical article [[Meta-Wiki:New language pre-launch|new language pre-launch]] documents the evolution of some of the various language versions of Wikinews, and Meta-Wiki [[Meta-Wiki:Requests for new languages|requests for new languages]] illustrates the process for all Wikimedia Foundation projects.
