Would one of the founders please put articles about WikiIndex in at least Wikinfo and WikiKnowledge, where I believe they would be welcome? I would do it, but I can't figure out the cross-licensing hassles... Or, please release a description of WikiIndex into the Public Domain, that anyone can freely post anywhere? (Do quite like the WikiIndex History article, by the way.) Took me over a day of searching to stumble on the existence of WI -- Let's try to make it easier for others to find. (I understand, there is really nothing we can do about the low visibility in the wiki-which-must-not-be-named, where it would be most appropriate and useful.) --69.87.200.5 18:07, 4 February 2007 (PST)
:Much discussion about the next step for WikiIndex at RecentChangesCamp in Portland this last weekend (Feb 2-4, 2007) see the session notes. The theme of the session was really how to make it more of a community resource and we welcome any discussion/suggestions along that line. ::So much to talk about... Could someone please work on giving us all access to useful recent traffic / page-view data, so we can see how much general use this wiki is getting, and whether it is increasing? Special:PopularPages would almost be useful, but needs at least one more column for "views in the last 30 days" -- total views ever is just not very useful (and it doesn't even tell us, starting from when). Special:Statistics also suffers from not giving us any recent-time-window data. What we really want to see is some nice weekly/monthly graphs for the last year. *** Its weird that the standard MediaWiki software is so limited in some ways. *** Many websites have not populated their Project:Copyrights page! You should add a direct link for that to your template here for wiki articles. (It has not been populated at the RecentChangesCamp wiki you link to above.) --69.87.199.195 07:32, 6 February 2007 (PST)

Why doesn't this website have a favicon? --69.87.199.195 07:34, 6 February 2007 (PST)
:I like the way you folks are thinking! I created a favicon File:Preview 16x16.png but don't know where to store the .ico - after I can get it stored on the web, then I can ask John Stanton to add it. Best, MarkDilley
::The generic standard is, name it favicon.ico and store it in the html root folder. But each page served can call out a favicon file, I guess, so maybe MediaWiki has its own special way of doing things? I'm afraid your design takes the standard graphic too small -- I could not tell what it was supposed to be, even though I am familiar with the current graphic, until I compared them visually. I think it needs to be "simplified", plainer, more contrast, to work on such a small scale. And maybe the keys should be re-arranged but better use the square area available? Maybe just two separate keys? --69.87.203.22 06:36, 12 February 2007 (PST)
==Feedback/Suggestions==
There seems to be no clear system here for how/where to discuss how WikiIndex works. This page is one place. talk:Community talk is another place. WikiIndex:Frequently asked questions is another place. User talk pages is another place, particularly those pages of the core folk (you can get a list of them here: Special:ListUsers). (In some cases, you can discuss the matter right at the appropriate location, but for some matters there is no such location.) --69.87.199.67 06:15, 15 February 2007 (PST)
==Be merciful== | |||
:: | Let us spread mercy, not conflict. Let us drop the boilerplate phrase "edited mercilessly". It pretends to be a cute warning to newcomers, but is actually in deadly earnest. It is no coincidence that Wikipedia is awash in a tidal wave of antagonism, building on such a base. Let's not repeat this threat to contributors, nor encourage editors to treat other's work in such a fashion. Let us rather encourage ourselves to be sincere, careful, and considerate. *** Here is a suggestion for improved boilerplate:

::I like this. What is the page to edit for me to change it? TedErnst | talk 10:03, 17 February 2007 (PST)
:::Good question. There are two superficial matches at Special:Allmessages, linking to MediaWiki:Copyrightwarning and MediaWiki:Copyrightwarning2. Those two pages are locked from edits, but they don't really match the edit boilerplate, anyway, so the true source seems more deeply hidden in the software. --69.87.202.225 10:27, 17 February 2007 (PST)
::::It seems I've made the change to MediaWiki:Copyrightwarning and it works. Please verify. TedErnst | talk 03:59, 27 February 2007 (PST)
Also, it would improve the editing process if this boilerplate were moved down below the Summary box and Save button. Or, maybe Summary/Save could be right over the toolbar above the edit box? --69.87.199.67 06:45, 15 February 2007 (PST)

Um... the logo on the infobox says "WikiIndex - SwitchWiki" while the logo in the corner of the site says "WikiIndex - IndexWiki".
: | ==Languages== | ||
I think a subpage for each language would be better than an endless growing WikiIndex entry. BTW: The Welcome page could be translated too (In this case I'd prefer to have an ordinary page for each language, named in this language and coupled by a navigation template). --Wolf | talk 03:14, 30 March 2009 (EDT)

Why does WikiIndex have a page about itself? I thought that this was a site to document other wikis. I could be mistaken, but just thought I'd bring it up. OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:22, 2 February 2017 (PST)
