'''Category:Archived''' is a complimentary addition to wiki sites gone for good, and listed in [[:category: Dead]], because [[:Category:All|WikiIndex]] is more than a 'yellow page' for [[wiki]]s.  We <u>do</u> record history here on WikiIndex; how wikis are created, what keeps them alive, and, sadly, how they went down.  For [[:Category:Wiki People|wiki people]], wiki history <u>is</u> content.

The [[WhatIsWiki|wikis]] listed in this [[Special:Categories|category]] below (collapse and / or scroll down past the [[:Category:Wiki Status|status]] [[Template:WikiStatus|table]]) have been verified as '{{tag|dead}}'; ie, completely gone for good, and their URLs may either return a '404' error, or may display the site of a domain name host, or advertising, or be taken over by cyber-squatters.  However, these dead wikis fortunately may have some (or even all) their former URLs captured and stored by one of the [[web archiving]] services, such as the '''''WaybackMachine''''' from Internet Archive at '''[[Archive.org]]'''[https://web.Archive.org], or the '''''Webpage archive''''' at '''[[archive.is]]'''[https://archive.is] (formerly at <tt>archive.today</tt>).

To include a [[wiki]] article page to this specific 'Archived' category, you must first verify that <u>more than</u> the [[Wiki main page|main page]] is saved as an archive, '''''and''''' that at least ''some'' of the actual content pages are also archived (ideally, a significant quantity of the dead wiki has been archived).  If so, first, [[edit]] the article to change all existing (dead) URLs in said dead wiki article to those of the actual archived URLs from their appropriate archiving service ([[Archive.org]] and / or [[archive.is]]); in the [[Template:Wiki|wiki infobox template]], the [[Template:Size|size template]], and any other wiki URLs which may be included within the prose.  Secondly, 'tag' the word <tt>archived</tt> somewhere within the prose of the article if possible; alternatively, add <tt><nowiki>[[Category:Archived]]</nowiki></tt> at the bottom of the relevant dead wiki article [[edit box]].  Do <u>not</u> change the <tt>|status=</tt> field in the [[Template:Wiki|wiki infobox template]] to 'Archived', as this is not an acceptable parameter of our [[WikiIndex:StructuredData|structured data]], and will flag up as an error.<!--The reason for NOT including this as an official WikiStatus is because most live wikis are also archived!-->
