Jimmy Donal 'Jimbo' Wales, born 7 August 1966, is an American born and raised internet entrepreneur.[3] On 15 January 2001, Wales, together with Larry Sanger, co-founded Wikipedia, which is now the world's largest internet encyclopedia, compiled of user-generated content in a wiki format.[3] Wales is also the founder and Chairman Emeritus of the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation (WMF), itself founded June 2003, which owns and runs Wikipedia and its related sites and projects,[3] totalling nearly 900 wiki sites. Subsequently, in 2004, Wales, along with his then new British business partner Angela Beesley, co-founded Wikia (originally called Wikicities, and now known as Fandom, Inc.), a commercial wiki hosting service, commonly known as a wiki farm.[3]
