'''Referata TestWiki''' was a small {{tag|sandbox}} test wiki, created by [[Xauroflaux]] and hosted on the {{tag|Referata}} [[wiki farm]]. Like all Referata wiki, this used the {{tag|MediaWiki}} wiki engine together with the {{tag|Semantic MediaWiki}} suite of extensions. The wiki was started in early April {{tag|Founded in 2017|2017}}, and then was left dormant. As of 2024, it shows a blank page with the message "Referata is experiencing temporary technical difficulties. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Due to severe and persistent problems with [[vandal]]ism and [[Sockpuppet|sock puppetry]], many pages were either semi-protected from all [[edit]]ing, and / or were set to require all edits from non-admins to be approved by an [[admin]] before they were publicly visible. Additionally, editing through web hosts or proxies such as TOR was prohibited under most circumstances, and any web hosting ranges were blocked upon discovery.

 

The wiki had very few admins and only one [[bureaucrat]], and was frequently {{tag|spammed}} by a long-term vandal who posted sexual material across multiple pages. Additionally, bureaucrat rights were no longer being given out for testing purposes as a result of a security breach in December 2018.
