Adding more semantics
Hello both User:Hoof Hearted and User:Kghbln. I think you are active occasionally. I wanted to ask if semantic mediawiki properties are welcome here at WikiIndex. I see the extensions installed, but few uses, only for wikifarms through its template. I have some ideas about using SMW properties to store stats about wikis and show them in graphs, kinda WikiApiary, but more modest (not huge amounts of stats saved every day for the same wiki). I can make a proof of concept and show to get your opinion. Regards. emijrp (talk) 18:31, 12 March 2025 (UTC)
:Here is an example. Excluding the detailed introduction, I think that I can code a bot to fill the Infobox, the Archive and Statistics sections. But that would change many pages and I want some feedback and approval before doing it, though I think that Wikiindex is a bit dormant. :: I am sorry for responding late. I needed to be off during the past weeks. Anyhow, I am all for it. We could probably add that information to the size template or better to a new one to allow more flexibility for placing the graphs. You manually annotate the number of edits a year on the page in your example. I am curious how you would like to determine the number of edits or new page creations a year for a given wiki. API-calls on the first date of the year followed by a comparison of edit numbers? Cheers --[[User:Kghbln|kgh]] (talk) 07:54, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
:::Analysing the XML dumps generated by WikiTeam. That way we can do the stats retroactively.  emijrp (talk) 14:40, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
::::Nice, now we need to figure out how ot add the data. Do you have a suggestion from your perspective? --[[User:Kghbln|kgh]] (talk) 06:49, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
Special:Statistics vs. {<nowiki/>{NUMBEROFARTICLES}}
Regarding your edit (diff).
You know that "Special:Statistics" or "<code>{<nowiki/>{NUMBEROFARTICLES}}</code> does not provide the correct number of articles.
There are many reasons why the site_stats table does not contain the correct number, so it should be corrected from time to time.
There is a maintenance script initSiteStats.php, but most wiki owners do not use it.
If Special:PopularPages is now available, you have a more reliable way of determining the number of available articles in the wiki.--162.158.95.244
