Their [[WikiLeaks:WikiLeaks:Understanding submissions|understanding submissions]] page contains detailed information on their actual document submissions process, assisted with a flow diagram on the actual submissions process; all the way through to being published on the WikiLeaks website.  They state that: "All files are processed in {{tag|crypto}}graphically secure, isolated environments making use of AES256, ''{{tag|United States of America|US}} DoD TOP SECRET''-approved encryption".  An important step in their process is what they call a [[WIKIleaks:WikiLeaks:What makes a proper leak descriptor|leak descriptor]], and it can be deduced that all material published on their site is of high encyclopaedic standard, and its integrity and accuracy will out-perform the very highest levels of scrutiny.  Online submissions are routed via {{tag|Sweden}} and {{tag|Belgium}}, whereas hardcopy and physical media can be posted "via our discreet postal network".
 
The WikiLeaks [[wiki]] contains articles written in {{tag|Wiki Multilingual|many}} [[:Category:Wiki language|languages]].  Unlike say [[:Category:Wikipedia|Wikipedia]], all language versions are merely sub-pages, rather than sub-domains, eg: <tt>https://WikiLeaks.org/wiki/Wikileaks/it</tt>.
 
For a short period after it launched, [[WikiLeaks:WikiLeaks:Submissions|WikiLeaks allowed submissions]] and actual editing from [[user]]s, but it quickly changed to being {{tag|Read-only|read-only}} for non-members, and closed registration to {{tag|ByInvitation|invite-only}}.  Although it runs {{tag|MediaWiki}}, and includes 'wiki' in the name, it is no longer an open wiki community.  Other observations reveal that all pages are devoid of any [[edit history]], and many of the usual MediaWiki [[Special pages]] are missing.
 
Due to massive amounts of traffic and likely cyber-espionage, WikiLeaks is occasionally [[:Category:Cannot connect|down]].  It has several [[:Category:Mirror|mirrors]] across the [[:Category:Internet|internet]], in addition to actively seeded torrents of its content.
