Description

The Partimage wiki discusses the "partimage" utility software, used to backup and restore hard disk partitions. It can be used to back up most hard drive partitions from most operating systems after booting from a Linux LiveCD.

You might want to use partimage if you think losing all the data on your hard drive would be a disaster.
