Veropedia is a defunct fork of limited selected articles from the English Wikipedia. The idea was to create some continuity between high-quality 'verified' articles on Wikipedia and the rest of the live content. Users could click through links on Wikipedia, and when they came to something that was considered good enough for Veropedia, they would be taken to Veropedia's version of an article. If they clicked on other links, they would be taken back to the standard Wikipedia.

Veropedia was operated by Veropedia, Inc., a for-profit corporation registered in Florida. Being as its' textual content was copied from Wikipedia, it was released on Veropedia under the same license as Wikipedia, namely the GNU Free Documentation License (GNU FDL, or more commonly GFDL). However, due to the commercial nature of Veropedia, some of its' own specific content was released under an additional more-restrictive license, the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike 2.5 license (CC-BY-NC-SA 2.5). The site remained in beta phase, and never went live.

A similar situation existed with Wikinfo; which would have links to the English Wikipedia if the article didn't exist in their site, but which would connect you to Wikinfo articles if they did.
