Staff are users with the technical ability to use every part of the MediaWiki interface on WikiIndex. The full list of permissions is available here. Most of the permissions are included in the administrator and bureaucrat permissions, however two advanced permissions require membership of the staff group. These permissions are:
- Usage of the configure extension
- Ability to assign checkuser, interwiki, and semantic admin userrights
Because all of the other rights of the staff group are included in the administrator and/or bureaucrat packages, this userright is not likely to be granted to any users other than current staff members. However, if the need arises, and a user has a good reason, he or she should open a discussion here. Note that only current staff members can add new ones.
