EcuRed: Difference between revisions

In the summer of 2009, work began on an experimental basis by the National Office for Computerisation (ONI) on an encyclopedia that is given the provisional name Ecupedia. In the project development process, ONI managed the programming and technological support and with the participation of the Institute of Scientific and Technological Information (IDICT) the governing documents were created, preparing the editorial standards, policies, regulations, methodological indications and procedures technical-legal established for networking.

To this end, the training of teams of professional editors in the IDICT and its network of territorial centres (CIGET), and other CITMA centres, which joined the project in August 2009, as well as training courses were given in dozens of institutions involved.

In September of the same year, the Young Computer and Electronics Club (JCCE) joined, being the institution that gave a boost to the project given its wide distribution of institutions throughout the country. Since the beginning of 2010, Joven Club has assumed the web hosting, administration and maintenance of its services and, together with the IDICT, the management and updating of its contents, thus creating the EcuRed Technical Group.

Other institutions joined in the course of 2010 so that in each of the fields of knowledge - especially in science, technology, culture, sport and history - they could manage the quality of the contents and guarantee that they were consistent with the country's policies in these areas.
