This Category: Ikiwiki is either empty, or sparsely populated,
and needs to be 'populated' with articles, stubs (and / or other categories)
relevant to the subject matter of this specific category.

Include an article page in this category via one (or more) of three methods:
a. add Ikiwiki in the appropriate field of its infobox template
b. 'tag' a word within the prose of the article, eg. {{tag|Ikiwiki}}
c. add [[Category:Ikiwiki]] at the bottom of its edit box.

ikiwiki is a wiki compiler, a wiki engine, particularly suited to personal wikis, project wikis or blogs. ikiwiki is free[1], released as open source (FOSS) under the GNU General Public License version 2 (or later) (GPL v2+). ikiwiki converts wiki pages into html pages suitable for publishing on a website. Unlike most other wiki engines, ikiwiki stores pages and history as plain text files in a standard revision control system[2] such as Subversion or Git,[3] rather than some specialised internal page history format.

The unique feature with ikiwiki is that it can be edited via commit to a repository, in addition to the standard web editing (though web editing can also be disabled); which makes ikiwiki truly collaborative. It is even possible to run an ikiwiki site in private, by copying the wiki content onto another server; and you even do not need the ikiwiki software on that server!

The ikiwiki wiki engine is written in Perl by Joey Hess (and others), and there is a plugin available that supports LaTeX math, along with other plugins to support other common wiki syntaxes. ikiwiki supports using Git, Subversion, Mercurial, Monotone, darcs, or CVS version control systems. ikiwiki can also be used to build weblogs.

ikiwiki will run on ANY operating system. Whilst it supports nigh-on all of the established syntax and protocols (some such as CamelCase requiring additional plugins), it does not support localisation, its interface being available in only English.

Their 'meta' website (also named ikiwiki) is a wiki, running the ikiwiki wiki engine, demonstrating and discussing the ikiwiki wiki engine.
