The Metagovernment is the tribe of individuals participating in this project. Our mission is to support the development of internet tools which enable the members of any community to fully participate in the governance of that community. Currently, this group is embodied in the startup committee, which is an adhocracy managed by an open list server. Everyone is invited to join.

The Metagovernment is a global project in the start-up phase, and its current function is to oversee the coordination and promotion of active projects engaged in developing systems of collaborative governance and to foster the free flow of ideas among individuals and projects to this end. Later functions may include inter-project standardization and acting as 'higher' level of government (i.e., a meta-government) to resolve disputes and discrepancies between other community governments.
