Nukapedia, a Fallout wiki.
- Based on information from their About page:
This Fallout Wiki, named Nukapedia, is a Wikia games community wiki by – and for – the fans of Fallout series of video games.
- History
In the Spring of 2005, a Fallout Wiki was set up by Ausir and DarkUnderlord, and was originally hosted by Duck and Cover, a Fallout fansite at the URL address wiki.DuckAndCover.cx (then Vault.DuckAndCover.cx) under the name 'The Vault'. It was later moved to a different server, but remained hosted by Taluntain - the host of Duck and Cover - at FalloutVault.com. As can be seen from Wikia talk pages and user contributions, there were also another nine users involved in shaping the wiki that were active in the early 2005 period. They were: Fez, Dan, Spazmo, Thinkpad, Mr. Teatime, Ekarderif, Mimir, Octotron and Senornacho.
In 2007, The Vault moved to Wikia, as the original host could no longer accept the constant attacks on the server by spammers and other attackers. Since the release of Fallout 3 in 2008, it became one of the most popular Wikia gaming wikis.
In November 2011, The Vault moved on to a different host, Curse, Inc. at FalloutWiki.com, and address under Fallout.Gamepedia.com, with both this host and the new site having similar and sometimes even identical content, with several old hands moving over to The Vaults new host. Those who remained within Wikia's variation subsequently took the new name Nukapedia (due to the term 'The Vault' being legally owned by its original creator Ausir), with both sites now developing largely independently of each other, although some contributors can still be found on both sites.
