Description

WikiGamia is an open game documentation community. It's called open, because of two reasons. The first reason is all articles are readable for everybody, without barriers. You don’t have to register or need necessary rights. Just search the article and read it! Everybody who likes to write something about a specific subject, can do this. Same goes for editing an article. This is the second reason to call WikiGamia open.

The WikiGamia project is non-profit, which means there are no commercial intentions behind it. All articles are also without commercial intentions or backgrounds. The project administrators check all new articles and changes and remove commercial intentions.

A wide range of game documentation is available in this documentation project. From simple game descriptions to a guide with complex tactics to accomplish a particular First Person Shooter mission. From a list of game cheats to a guide to tune racecars in Need for Speed - underground. As you can read, a wide range.

Background

The project is founded by 2 Good Looking Guys, two huge game freaks. Both were already active writing editorials, news items en game guides before the started WikiGamia. The idea was born when they were working on a game guide. They noticed it was hard to get a complete and full game guide. The foundation of the idea behind the WikiGamia project saw here light of live: Supplying a website for the game community, where game guides can be made and edited by everybody for everybody.

That’s where wiki comes around. A wiki is a website for collaborative writing. Everybody can add and edit the wiki content on a wiki. Do you want to write a Battlefield 2 sniper guide? It’s possible. You got some adjustments for the Mario Bros cheats guide? Just go to the page and edit it as you like. Conclusion? Just the type of site needed for the project.

The open character of a Wiki site is also one of the major risks for the project. This is addressed, but also accepted. Does this mean you cannot trust the documents of the project? No, off course you can trust it. Spammers are blocked, and the Wiki engine gives us possibility to restore the older version of the document.
