I'd suggest installing [[mw:Extension:SimpleAntiSpam|SimpleAntiSpam extension]], too; it's a simple extension that catches plenty of stupid spambots. It's also used on all Wikimedia Foundation sites.

Great to see an upgrade of MediaWiki, 1.10 was getting old. 1.10 to 1.16 seems quite a big jump, good luck with that :) As for the semantic thing, I've always wondered how using it felt like, so it will be nice to have it here. As for ComfirmEdit, I found that QuestyCaptchas are very efficient, super-easy to install (doesn't require TeX or Python things), and Google-free (unlike ReCaptcha).
