Thoughts

This doesn't need to be a meta level page. MarkDilley | talk 18:48, 11 Mar 2006 (EST)

Mark, you and I often see things differently. I love that. I do. And, it would really help me if you'd say more when expressing that you have a different opinion. I moved the page here so clearly at the time I moved it, I believed the move to be correct, or at least justifiable. I'm happy to try to explain why I did it. I'm not attached to the move and can certainly be convinced otherwise. It would just help a lot if you expressed your reasoning, not just your disagreement. This applies to WikiNode and TourBusStop as well, assuming those anon, unsigned edits on the talk pages were also yours. Thanks so much! TedErnst | talk 02:49, 12 Mar 2006 (EST)
Originally this page was Opt out. It was moved to WikiIndex:Opt out because it's about a WikiIndex guideline. Today I split the page into Opt out for the general concept and WikiIndex:Opt out for the guideline. TedErnst | talk 13:27, 13 Mar 2006 (EST)

Where actually is the said guideline?

Obviously there is not sufficient guideline. Therefore it can be misunderstood. Clearly even purported well versed and experienced local Users like User:Leucosticte can get it wrong as You can see here: Talk:Theshatteredpan.org.

For example it seams not to be clear, that 'wiki owner or community' does not refer to registrant of the domain. Manorainjan (talk) 14:32, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

Criteria and verification

Since we certainly would not want every little troll to be able to delete wiki pages that we carefully created, I see the need to verify the validity of the request. For example the leader of the Wiki in question would have to make the request. And to verify the validity he/she/it would have to repeat this request on their Wiki under the name of that leader. that, of course, would seemingly make it impossible for dead Wikis to opt out ;-) Only in case of a dead bliki it should be possible to verify the identity of the leader, because "There could be only one" and that one would easily be identifiabel.
