Category talk:WikiIndex

Is there interest in having a Category:WikiIndex to hold all of our meta pages? I'm thinking that would clean up Category:Browse quite a bit. I'm willing to do it, but don't want to if I'm the only one that it will benefit. TedErnst | talk 13:41, 8 Mar 2006 (EST)

I think simply "WikiIndex" is confusing... I'd personally make either that or "Wikis" the root node of the category that contains all wikis, and sub-categories listing *kinds* of wikis... If this is a meta category I'd personally prefer it to have a name like "WikiIndex Itself" or just "Meta". The latter is shorter but I think the former would be more universally understood. - JenniferForUnity 17:03, 16 October 2006 (EDT)

Jennifer (may I call you Jennifer?), I love your energy for categorization! We've needed someone like you around here for a long time! :-) Browse is supposed to be our root, overall. We've never really had a clear idea what to do overall from there. Can you help us figure it out? I like your proposal for using the Meta namespace instead of WikiIndex. I also like your proposal of Wikis as the root of everything that's a wiki. Right now I suppose Wiki lists is that root for all wikis. I'm not really sure. Feel free to go for whatever change you think is uncontroversial and/or easy to do. And feel free to call for discussion on anything that'll take a lot of work. Thanks so much for being here! Yay! Yeah, feel free to call me Jennifer :-) I was away to do RL stuff, but now I'm back (for a while at least). Ted, I've been treating you as the de facto "chief" of the wiki because you seem to be the hub person as far as conversations with people go (your talk page gets a lot of edits). I've been doing this sort of reorganization for the location stuff but I'm thinking Browse is the next target :-) Be sure to yell if you see me doing something bad. I'll try to stay with the "propose wait for objections, then do" for the really major stuff.
