Thank you for the welcome!

Incubus

I've actually seen Incubus (which is much easier to obtain now thanks to Netflix). Even though it's Shatner, his cadence isn't nearly as annoying in Esperanto as it is in English. --MarvelZuvembie 19:50, 18 May 2009 (EDT)

It's actually one of the movies on my Wiki but there are other much better movies out there on succubi or incubi...

I know it's not your mainstay, but I started following your Tumblr. Shhh... don't tell anyone. --MarvelZuvembie 14:59, 12 October 2011 (PDT)

Welcome! TeraS 16:19, 18 August 2011 (PDT)

Also, thanks for catching the spammers! --MarvelZuvembie 16:07, 6 September 2011 (PDT)

I was amazed at just how many there were this morning... yeesh!! TeraS 16:17, 6 September 2011 (PDT)

Thank you for reverting tons of spam and blocking spammers. I see you have been blocking spammers "with an expiry time of infinite". Would you mind joining the discussion on the appropriate length of time for the first few blocks at WikiIndex talk: Blocking Policy? I currently think that it would be better overall to use much shorter blocks, at least for the first offense or two, but perhaps you have a very good reason for infinite blocks. (I discuss some reasons for shorter blocks on that talk page and at User talk:Proxima Centauri#User:Jonah Musto). With your help, I hope that someday we will have a good blocking policy that not only clearly states what the policy is, but also explains why. --DavidCary 08:53, 25 September 2011 (PDT)

Always happy to help David... I commented as asked, but in short I do not see why blatant spammers deserve a second chance ever. TeraS 10:22, 25 September 2011 (PDT)
IP addresses can shift to different owners, but in the case of known domains from spambot blacklists, I say block them indefinitely. --MarvelZuvembie 14:49, 26 September 2011 (PDT)
I agree, but really when they return from the same IP anonymously over and over again I don't see the problem with banning them. But I'll go an extra step in their case and see what fSpamlist says about them before the hammer comes out... TeraS 16:02, 26 September 2011 (PDT)

Tera, you rock! I never thought I would say this, but it's good to have a succubus watching out for me! ;-) --MarvelZuvembie 12:23, 19 October 2011 (PDT)

appreciate the spam fighting

talk:Collaborative

Hope you will post an opinion to Category talk:Collaborative. --EarthFurst 12:19, 11 December 2011 (PST)

Looks like math captcha is failing for account creation

is that your assessment?

Well, the amount of spammers I think has been reduced a lot since that was added. Account creation I think is less of a problem than anon IP editing of pages to add spam, but that's just my opinion. TeraS 12:15, 29 December 2011 (PST)

a pointer for you to delete and block

Hi, I see you have been deleting some of User:ScottSchaefer and Scott Schaefer and his contributions. I raised concern on another Admins (DavidCary) talk page here - maybe you'd like to add your $0.02/€0.02/£0.02 worth! Best regards Hoof Hearted 15:29, 30 December 2011 (PST)

Hi HH... Personally I couldn't see a reason for any of the pages to exist here and after poking at some of the links I saw nothing that made me want to keep any of it... TeraS 15:49, 30 December 2011 (PST)
Maybe, just maybe - LexingtonWiki is worth keeping - because it does seem to be a wiki in the true spirit - albeit an unethical one - but I'll tidy it up and strip out any remaining URLs. Maybe protect it now it shows it for what it is - ie a host for spammers!
BTW, would you mind reading my comment here - Template talk:Refresh? Best -- Hoof Hearted 16:02, 30 December 2011 (PST)

Question

Why did you remove my question at WikiIndex talk:How do categories work? 76.100.115.189 07:15, 3 January 2012 (PST)

Sorry, that was my fault and I put it back in. You posted it in the middle of a spam attack and I didn't act properly in that case. My apologies... TeraS 07:29, 3 January 2012 (PST)

deletions

Hello Tera, I can't tell for sure, but it looks like User:Hoof Hearted added delete templates to some things that were used on pages, which then got deleted, but shouldn't have. I will try to spend a little time trying to figure out a few of them. I may be wrong, it has happened before :-) Best, MarkDilley

Hi Mark... I had a good look at the ones for deletion and removed the ones that made sense to me, several I removed the delete tag on as they didn't seem to be needed to be removed. As for the Templates listed on the delete list, I didn't touch any of those because I am skittish about messing with the back end stuff in a wiki... I have all kinds of issues making Templates work for me and I just don't want to mess anything up. If there is anything incorrect, I apologize for that. TeraS 05:35, 6 January 2012 (PST)
No worries, I fixed some things and messed up some things myself :-) Best, MarkDilley

Contact problem

Hi Tera, you left me a message here. I havn't ignored you, I've been trying to update my profile in my user preferences for a few days, but it just wont update anything (nor send me an 'e-mail confirmation'). I'd rather not post my actual e-mail address on a public wiki (yes, it can be deleted, but unless it was a SysOp, it would always be available in its edit history). So, being as you are an admin, do you wish to post your e-mail address on here (and roll-back later) for me to contact you? Or do you have a visible e-mail say on your own wiki where I can reach you? Kindest regards, --Hoof Hearted 09:09, 8 January 2012 (PST)

Wasn't worried HH as you were, and are, doing a lot of things here... If you look at the front page of SuccuWiki, there is an address there you can contact me at... Thanks so much! TeraS 09:50, 8 January 2012 (PST)
YHM - I hope! --Hoof Hearted 12:39, 8 January 2012 (PST)

I got your reply :) I started looking into it (tried a few test edits on TestWiki), but I really need a 'clear head' to ponder over the intricate details of templates, and I'm struggling a bit today :( I'll have a serious ponder either tomorrow, or later in the week if other commitments get in the way. If I happen to forget, I'm sure you'll poke me with your pitchfork! :p --Hoof Hearted 08:18, 9 January 2012 (PST)

E-mail-settings.png

I mean, check your settings again, HH. Here I gave an example. Only if you have a valid e-mail set, you can be connected via wiki-mail. You will get a confirmation mail, if you input the mail address in your preferences. Best --Wolf | talk 14:19, 10 January 2012 (PST)

Your odd greeting to a new comer.

A little while ago I posted a wiki project we are working on, unique with some custom modules built on drupal. We revamped some functionality recently so I thought I would come back to wikiindex and make some more detailed notes about what the wiki is about. Incredibly it seems you deleted it, surprisingly after I took extra time and effort explain the project and re enforce that it was a legitimate and active project.

Anyways, I'm not upset (I really don't care since getting the word out beyond our niche may just invite spammers). Just a little bit of feedback so you know that I would never list another one of our wiki's (Most are very niche specific) if there are deletionists poised to destroy anyone that tries to contribute to your project.

Good luck with the project, you are welcome to delete my account as well :)

Dextech 21:43, 6 February 2012 (PST)

Hello Dextech... I wanted to explain why exactly I deleted your page here on WikiIndex. The page history was:
  • 26 January 2012 TeraS deleted "Alberta Directory" ‎ (delete as per tag)
  • 16:23, 18 January 2012 . . Hoof Hearted (link to creators talk page)
  • 07:54, 18 January 2012 . . Hoof Hearted (NAW, (delete|not a wiki, just an ordinary website, see talk page}
  • 03:50, 18 January 2012 . . Dextech
  • 03:39, 18 January 2012 . . Dextech (Created page with "{{Wiki |wiki_name=Alberta Directory |wiki_URL=http://albertadirectory.org/ |wiki_wikinode_URL=No |wiki_status=NeedsLove |wiki_language=English |wiki_editmode=OpenEdit |wiki_engin...")

Based on the tag added to that page, what your site looked like at the time, and the lack of response to the question posted here by the Admin of WikiIndex, it was a candidate for deletion. As well the stated delete time period of the delete tag here is 24 hours but I waited longer than it states before doing so, a week actually, which gave time for you to respond to the questions posed here. I was not being a deletionist, I was following the procedures here on this site. If you want to add your site again, you are welcome to, but if it does not fall within the purview of this site, it may be nominated for deletion again.

And no, I won't delete your account here. TeraS 06:15, 7 February 2012 (PST)

Many thanks

Dear TeraS, many thanks for cleaning up the spam/vandalism on my talk page, and for removing spam in general on WikiIndex. I should really make time to help out a little more myself. Anyway, keep up the good work! All the best, -- Carl McBride (talk) 07:42, 26 April 2012 (PDT)

Welcome! Always happy to help if I can! TeraS 11:50, 26 April 2012 (PDT)

Using "view history"

Hello TeraS, I am French so sorry for my English. I used Wikimaginaire to publish my texts but it has been suppressed. Some days ago, I used this wiki to compare two versions of a text and it was very useful to me. You suppressed the page and I thank you for this because I could not do it myself. However I would like to compare another two versions. May I use the same page? Cheers, Nicolas Messina

Um, you can, but I haven't edited the Wikimaginaire page here. Best wishes TeraS 16:40, 13 June 2012 (PDT)
I think what's he's trying to say is that he edited on the now defunct Wikimaginaire which has been deleted, and he created a non-wiki page here which you deleted. I directed him over to the sandbox. ElassintAdmin 14 June 2012
Thank you Elassint! TeraS 19:25, 13 June 2012 (PDT)

Thanks...

...for all the extra work Best regards --Wolf | talk 05:35, 30 September 2012 (PDT)

Yes, thank you very much for cleaning up the spam. :) Elassint 30 September 2012

Thank you all! Lost some sleep, but I was up at the time... TeraS (talk) 10:09, 30 September 2012 (PDT)

Busy with the spammers again!

Hi Tera, looks like you were very busy with a spammer earlier (User:ABIDEEN1 and User:ABIDEEN0) - great work on keeping on top of that lot, it looks like we were being bombarded for hours! May I ask a question though? On your related protections, I noticed you locked them all from editing apart from sysops, for an indefinite period . . . was that just in haste/frustration, or was there another reason? I think Mark prefers 'open editing' where possible, so maybe sysop edit protect for say 24hrs would give appropriate protection to allow blocking of offenders?

I also think it would be a good idea to implement some of the helpful MediaWiki extensions to combat spammers, inappropriate usernames, inappropriate keywords (such as 'Allah', 'God', 'Viagra', 'loan', etc). I'm sure there must be something Mark can install to automatically block those kind of words/phrases - both in usernames and body text. I raised this with Elassint here, but the discussion lost momentum. Do you have any thoughts or experiences on this? Warmest regards, Hoof Heartedtalk2HH 06:04, 30 September 2012 (PDT)

Hi HH... Personally, I have used some of the readily available word BlackList extensions to control the editing. In the past, and I can't find it anymore, there was an extension where if a user tried to edit an existing page above a certain number of characters, the edit wouldn't be allowed. I'll see if I can locate it again, it wasuseful at the time, but I think it is no longer useable. Thanks! Huggles TeraS (talk) 10:11, 30 September 2012 (PDT)

I made a shortcut because I keep forgetting it also --> Blacklist. As always you are amazing! Best, MarkDilley

Need a new pitchfork?

Hi TeraS - just noticed how busy you've just been with those horrendous spambot signups and blocking them all. I just texted Mark Dilley to give him heads up and ask him to lock the site to new account sign-ups - he should hopefully sort this out ASAP. I'm off to bed now - its nearly midnight here in Blighty - so you'll have to hold the fort. Will try and chat again in the morning to see if we can all work out a way forward ....

As usual, you do an amazing job here - keep up your great work - <hugs> --Sean, aka Hoof HeartedAdmintalk2HH 16:52, 30 March 2013 (PDT)
