In the news is a section that often appears at the top of wiki main pages, and lists news items concerning the wiki itself (such as announcements that the wiki has reached a certain number of articles) or the wiki's topic. In the case of Wikipedia, a comprehensive encyclopedia, "in the items" items can be any noteworthy item that has been in the mainstream news recently.
