BEAM robotics (Biology, Electronics, Aesthetics, and Mechanics) is a style of robotics that primarily uses simple analogue circuits, such as comparators, to produce an unusually efficient, robust, and simple design, compared to traditional microprocessor-controlled robots.

Many robots built in this style are solar-powered and controlled by a "nervous network".

The BEAM wiki discusses

  • the BEAM robotics style,
  • the robots produced with that style,
  • the mechanical and electrical components of those robots,
  • the tools used to put them together,
  • the people who design and build them, and
  • the behaviors of those robots after they are assembled.
