wtf is this? --Smiddle 07:17, 10 September 2006 (EDT)
This is our local spam blacklist. John 15:08, 11 September 2006 (EDT)

?
I can't write <u> for some reason. Try yourselves. – Smiddle / T·C·S·A 08:56, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
- Also, I tested writing something in the sandbox, and it worked. This spamblacklist is broken. – Smiddle / T·C·S·A 08:58, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
- It is broken! The size of the blacklists has exceeded the ability of the PHP regex to process it causing the blacklist extension to fail silently. The MediaWiki folks came up with fix for it which I have loaded. My tests show that it is not working yet but it may take a while to reload and split the MediaWiki blacklist so I'll give it some time.John 12:32, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
YTMND wiki
http://wiki.ytmnd.com is on the spam blacklist. Why? – Smiddle / T·C·S·A 13:29, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
Not working
I tried adding a URL I made up "thistestisfabulo.us". Now i tested it and it worked to write it. What, is, the, deal. – Smiddle / T·C·@ 03:24, 13 January 2007 (PST)
- Ithink it's the slashes. It blocked an edit containing a link I had just listed, and removing it from the list allowed the edit. — User:Sean Fennel@ 16:11, 17 January 2007 (PST)
Remove ED
Remove Encyclopedia Dramatica from here. I can't see it on the list, but I can't edit the ED article. 4.152.6.119 22:08, 23 May 2007 (EDT)
- There's currently something strange with the list. I think there's an invisible spam blacklist somewhere that no one but John can edit. – Smiddle/TC@ 10:46, 24 May 2007 (EDT)
- We use three levels of spam protection, the spam regex, the mediawiki spam blacklist and our own spam blacklist page. If you are blocked by the Mediawiki Blacklist you have a big problem and need to get Mediawiki to remove it. Our blacklist page has few sites on it and you can check it at My_spam_blacklist. The spam regex contains mostly bad words and drug brands and there is no way to view it except by viewing the LocalSettings.php file. If you are blocked the offending text will be displayed in the message and you can check the above to see where it is being blocked. If you are blocked by a word or phrase it may in the spam regex if you have a blocked url it is probably in the Mediawiki Blacklist or the Local Blacklist. BTW the spam filters all fail silently so if they quit working the only way we know is that spam starts to increase. John 12:52, 24 May 2007 (EDT)
- How about you do a local whitelist for ED, becuase it should not be blocked for any reason. 4.152.30.143 11:29, 27 May 2007 (EDT)
- I'll check that out, we did talk about a white list a while back and this seems like a good reason to establish it. John 11:40, 27 May 2007 (EDT)
- I checked out the Whitelist and found that Sean had already implemented it earlier this year the page is MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. I also checked to see how you are being blocked, you were blocked by the Mediawiki Blacklist list as of October with the entry:
encyclopediadramatica\.(com|net|org)
- You need to clear your site from that list because that means that you are banned from hundreds or thousands of wiki sites. John 14:38, 27 May 2007 (EDT)
- If you want to create a real name login and leave a message here, I will be happy to put encyclopediadramatica on our whitelist. John 14:50, 27 May 2007 (EDT)
