Another advantage to using Cite rather than inline URLs is that it would look nicer when the pages are printed. Then we could [[mw:Manual:FAQ#How_do_I_disable_external_links_from_showing_in_the_printable_version_of_a_page.3F|disable external links from showing in the printable version of a page]]. [[:Template:Wiki]] in particular tends not to print well; the lengthy URLs often cause the text to intrude into the wiki logo.
