As you can see, Wikimedia Commons moves files all the time and most of the time there's no suppressing redirects. ::::When you create a redirect (without supressing the original) of a main namespace article, and then click on [[Special:WhatLinksHere]], the list of links clearly indicates redirects, and you are given the option to hide redirects. However, on file namespace articles containing images, the old 'redirected' file name will show up below the image as a live link. This isn't ideal if you wish to search for 'orphaned' images by selecting the File namespace from the [[Special:LonelyPages]] – hence my term 'false positive'. WM Commons may be happy with that situation, and they have a massive army of editors (and probably bots) who can fix that.
