The wiki engine field in the form includes an 'auto-fill' option – you just need to type the first three or four letters, and the list of wiki engines (which are spelt with those letters you just typed) will appear. The more letters you type, the viewed options will reduce. This works the same (or very similar) to our 'Search' box. We don't really want to set a default, as this will be counter-productive to Semantic Data. :::: One can fill any value one imagines. That in itself is good, because one may encounter engines unknown before. But I think it is the most common case that one has no idea what the engine is (besides Wikia and unaltered MediaWiki). So empty we do not want to have it. Also we do not want to have a collection of {'no idea', 'unknown', 'UnknownEngine'; 'YourWikiEngine', ...} Therefore I think it is better to set a default like 'YourWikiEngine'.
