Hi all. What do you think about wikis which disappear? I think that every year a lot of wikis are deleted or get offline. I saw a few years ago how most of the wikis available in the ScribbleWiki hosting were lost forever. How can we avoid this? A lot of wikis are free licensed, and nobody cares about getting a copy or backup. That is incredible! Emijrp 09:57, 3 November 2010 (PDT) | Hi all. :That's an interesting question. What should the lifecycle of a wiki be? Were they meant to last forever? I didn't realize just how many wikis there are until I discovered WikiIndex. Having now shallowly observed several hundred wikis, in my opinion, not all of them deserve to live forever. And clearly, some were designed with a limited-time purpose, not to be relevant a decade later. But I take your point, a lot of good information and hard work can be lost if site owners or hosts are careless. The best advice I can offer to avoid this is for people to plan their wikis carefully. --MarvelZuvembie 17:48, 4 November 2010 (PDT) | :That's an interesting question.
