The Cancer Guidelines Wiki from the Clinical Guidelines faculty of the Cancer Council Australia (CCA) is a wiki site from Australia to create and disseminate clinical guidelines for the prevention and medical treatment of cancer. The wiki is powered by the ubiquitous MediaWiki wiki engine software, and includes the Semantic MediaWiki suite. Visually unique, it uses its own custom skin (called CCA Skin, which unfortunately hides the standard MediaWiki sidebar), and is also able to use standard MediaWiki skins called Chameleon and Fallback. It is hosted and supported by BlueSpice of Germany.
Wiki statistics anomalies[edit]
One oddity of this significantly important wiki site is its extremely low page-count of just 27 pages, as reported by its statistics page (as of: 2022-04). However, when viewing its All pages special page, it will be noticed that this site has a large number of other custom (yet highly appropriate and sensical) namespaces, which contain most of the primary content articles of this Cancer Guidelines Wiki. One such example namespace is the Search strategy namespace, which contains a number of highly crucial articles directly governing cancer management. Furthermore, yet more primary content articles are found as sub-pages of their 'mother' article.
Due to the standard method of MediaWiki reporting of page count figures from only within a wiki sites' 'main' namespace (and which excludes sub-pages, redirects, and 'stub' article pages), this explains the very low page count for Cancer Guidelines Wiki. Its All pages statistic bears a much more accurate page count of more than 96,000 pages, from all namespaces, though it must be remembered that this much higher figure also contains figures from all talk pages and redirects; these discrepancies in no way explain the gargantuan difference between 27 'official' content pages and the nearly one hundred thousand total pages on the Cancer Guidelines Wiki.

Clinical practice guidelines bring together the best available evidence to underpin scientifically-valid recommendations for the prevention and diagnosis of cancer and treatment of care of patients.
Cancer Council Australia develops and disseminates high quality, evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis and management of cancer to inform clinical practice and ultimately improve cancer management in Australia.
Established in 1994, under former banners of Australian Cancer Network (ACN) and the Clinical Guidelines Network (CGN), Cancer Council Australia (CCA) has significant experience in producing cancer-related guidelines for the Australian health context.
Around 2014, Cancer Council Australia customised a web-based platform for developing, revising and publishing up-to-date online clinical practice guidelines. Digital guidelines can be updated as new evidence becomes available and linked to source abstracts and other evidence-based sites that add to the value of using the online guidelines.
During the development of guidelines, Cancer Council Australia calls on a network of more than 70 interest groups, covering basic science, through medical and nursing care, to public health. Cancer Council Australia collaborates with the Clinical Oncological Society of Australia, and many of these organisations to draw upon their members' clinical expertise to produce clinical practice guidelines and meet its objectives.
Cancer Council would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work. We would also like to pay respect to the elders past and present and extend that respect to all other Aboriginal people.
The guideline recommendations for the wiki are approved by the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), part of the Australian Government, under section 14A of the National Health and Medical Research Council Act 1992.
