The official english spelling is full of absurd non-phonetic spellings, such as in this very sentence.
But, we must set limits upon just how much ridiculousness we are willing to tolerate.
Non-phonetic spelling-systems must not remain stagnant and decadent;
they must evolve forward toward greater phonetic accuracy,
but not so quickly that they make the spelling too unfamiliar.

A few of the most absurd spellings are the words "wouLd", "couLd", and "shouLd",
which have the letter L stuck in the middle of them, despite the absence of any L-sound therein.
Those words can be spelled without the L, as "woud", "coud", and shoud",
and still be readily recognizable, so it is preferable that you spell those words in that manner.
