*The [[founder ]] of a wiki probably knows its age.
*If they are running [[:Category:MediaWiki|MediaWiki]] software, there are three ways:
**Go to the 'Oldest pages' at <code>/Special:AncientPages</code> for the wiki and look at the date of the first article (note that it lists pages that haven't been ''edited'' in a long time, not the oldest pages overall).
**Go check the date for 'MediaWiki default' at <code>/Special:Contributions/MediaWiki_default</code> made its first contribution.
**View history for a system message (as found in the 'MediaWiki' [[WikiIndex:Namespace Conventionsconventions|namespace]] – search in [[Special:PrefixIndex]]), and check when MediaWiki default first edited it.
*For [[:Category:Wikia|Wikia]] wikis, the exact date of founding will be at <code>/Special:WikiStats</code>.
**Wikia 'MediaWiki default' is found at <code>/Special:Contributions/Default</code>.
