RationalWiki having been around for more than five years, and RationalWikiWiki having been around for almost five years, different people, in-jokes, and policies had risen to prominence over time, then faded. As a wiki about (1) a wiki and (2) a wiki about a wiki, RationalWikiWikiWiki aimed to provide a history of RationalWiki and RationalWikiWiki and to host discussions deemed too controversial for those sites. Founded on 1 September 2012, it was shut down on 11 September 2012 due to a warning from the Provo, Utah-based webhost (responding to a tip provided by a RWW user) that "adult content," such as an essay questioning the logic behind laws establishing the current age of sexual consent, would not be tolerated.
