May I propose improving the names of individual timezones, to a more logical and user-friendly way. I'm suggesting they all begin with the UTC and hour difference, then a dash, then either any local name or primary city. A few examples:
*UTC+2 - Eastern European Time (EET)
*UTC+1 - Central European Time (CET)
*UTC+0 - Grenwich Mean Time (GMT)
*UTC-4 - Atlantic Time (Canada)
*UTC-5 - Eastern Time (US & Canada)
*UTC-7 - Mountain Time (US & Canada)
*UTC-9 - Alaska Time
This would then make it easier to sort within this mother category, and would help to clarify actual differences between individual timezones of users/people. [[User:Hoof Hearted|Hoof Hearted]] • [[User talk:Hoof Hearted|talk2HH]] 12:51, 4 October 2012 (PDT)

using time zones

I think it would be helpful to tag the (active) user pages with time zone informations for inter-user-coordination and for interest. Look at my first steps Category:TimezoneMiddleEurope with templates. What do you think about it? --Peu 13:04, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

What's the name of your timezone (the distance to UTC is -6 right?) --Peu 14:42, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

Timezone naming conventions

May I propose improving the names of individual timezones, to a more logical and user-friendly way. I'm suggesting they all begin with the UTC and hour difference, then a dash, then either any local name or primary city. A few examples:

 • UTC+2 - Eastern European Time (EET)
 • UTC+1 - Central European Time (CET)
 • UTC+0 - Grenwich Mean Time (GMT)
 • UTC-4 - Atlantic Time (Canada)
 • UTC-5 - Eastern Time (US & Canada)
 • UTC-7 - Mountain Time (US & Canada)
 • UTC-9 - Alaska Time

This would then make it easier to sort within this mother category, and would help to clarify actual differences between individual timezones of users/people. Hoof Heartedtalk2HH 12:51, 4 October 2012 (PDT)
