:It's because it's a multilingual project. So, rather than repeat the same text on multiple articles, they just transclude a template. It would probably be better to dispense with it, since each language typically has its own culture, goings-on, etc. so there could be potential to say a lot of different things about each individual wiki in the farm. - It's because it's a multilingual project. So, rather than repeat the same text on multiple articles, they just transclude a template. It would probably be better to dispense with it, since each language typically has its own culture, goings-on, etc. so there could be potential to say a lot of different things about each individual wiki in the farm.
