Template:Wiki Engine

This Category: LocalWiki is either empty, or sparsely populated,
and needs to be 'populated' with articles, stubs (and / or other categories)
relevant to the subject matter of this specific category.

Include an article page in this category via one (or more) of three methods:
a. add LocalWiki in the appropriate field of its infobox template
b. 'tag' a word within the prose of the article, eg. {{tag|LocalWiki}}
c. add [[Category:LocalWiki]] at the bottom of its edit box.

LocalWiki is an open content, open source wiki engine compiled in Django and Python. LocalWiki projects are the opposite of today's bite-size, disposable web. They're informative, non-commercial, and built for the long term, by neighbors who simply love their communities. Formerly known as Wiki Spot,[1] the LocalWiki project is being directed primarily by Philip Neustrom and Mike Ivanov, the co-founders of the Davis Wiki.

This wiki engine has a great feature – it has user editable maps, where every page has a real sense of place. These maps contributes to a rich, interlinked local resource that gets better and better over time. LocalWiki has articles covering all seven continents of the Earth.[2]

LocalWiki is a United States 501(c)(3) nonprofit community improvement organization based in San Francisco, California. One of its former major supporters was wikiHow.
