Category:State — in geographical terms, a state, or specifically a Template:W is a common term used to typically describe the primary or first major geographical and administrative sub-division of a country or Template:W. Commonly (though not exclusively) used in English-speaking nations, the most well-known use of the term state is in the United States of America; with India and Australia also being primary users of the term.

In other languages and countries, similar names can be Template:W (in Russia), and Template:W (plural Template:W, in Germanic; specifically in Germany and Austria). Template:W (French origin, most commonly in Switzerland, also some Spanish countries), Template:W (French origin, and adopted by the Spanish), Template:W (Roman origin, of the Roman Empire), Template:W (Latin origin, contemporaneous in Japan, China, and other countries), and Template:W (Canada and Australia) are other words describing the same.
