Wikit is a wiki engine written in the Tcl programming language. It can function both stand-alone (on a desktop) or under a web server. Its homepage is now at https://wiki.Tcl.tk/1.

Founded by Jean-Claude Wippler in 1999,[1] Wikit implements the WikiWikiWeb collaborative web concept invented by Ward Cunningham to be used in a number of ways:

  • as a Common Gateway Interface (CGI) script run from Apache or TclHttpd or AOLserver
  • as a self-contained web-server
  • as a local-mode version of a wiki, using a Tk GUI
  • as an embedded portable help system for Starkits

Wikit is primarily used as the engine for the Tcler's Wiki. The Wikit engine is long since dormant, in 2007 the entire engine was superceded[2] by WubWikit.
