Wikirating® is the first free and open platform for credit ratings. Wikirating's purpose is to establish a transparent source for credit ratings of countries, companies, and structured products.
The idea of Wikirating was born in spring 2010 by Dorian Credé – in the middle of the world financial and economic crisis. Shortly after Erwan Salembier joined, and both started to develop this idea based on the simple fact that financial ratings, methodologies and activities needed to become transparent and open, and that anyone should have the right to contribute to this project. In February 2012, Erwan left Wikirating by mutual consent.
The founder decided to adopt the community model of Wikipedia, that is, an internet platform allowing free contributions, data corrections and consultation - self-controlled and regulated by the community. The open source software MediaWiki, which is also used by Wikipedia, perfectly fulfilled most of the initial needs, and Wikirating was launched in October 2011.
In November 2012, Wikirating, and the not-for-profit rating provider Public Sector Credit Solutions (PSCS) agreed to a strategic alliance; the related Public Sector Credit Framework (PSCF) for sovereigns entities and its data will be integrated on Wikirating.
Wikirating is owned, financed and operated exclusively by the founder. All back office operations (maintenance, site administration, features development and implementation), as well the front office activities (communication, marketing) are performed by the founder. Every contributor is welcome to join Wikirating to build up and extend the content and the functionalities of the platform.
