LOCKSS is open source, peer-to-peer software that functions as a persistent access preservation system. It is used around the world by libraries, universities, research institutions and government agencies to collect locally and preserve born-digital materials such as electronic journals, electronic theses and dissertations, government and state documents, archival and special materials, image collections, books, blogs, and web sites.

Since 2006 the LOCKSS project has been using MediaWiki as its website publishing platform.
