'''Referata''' was a wiki farm that offered hosting of [[:Category:Semantic Web|semantic wikis]]; allowing you to add, structure, and store [[:Category:Data|data]] so it can be managed, shared, browsed, and analysed in as many ways as you choose, within a [[wiki]] environment.

Referata was primarily by its founder [[User talk:Yaron Koren|Yaron Koren]], and was hosted by [http://WikiWorks.com WikiWorks.com].  It provided {{tag|Free MediaWiki wiki farms|free}} public wiki hosting (aka a '[[wiki farm]]') using the {{tag|MediaWiki}} wiki engine, along with the {{tag|Semantic MediaWiki}} plugin and associated Semantic Wiki suite of [[extension]]s, and also utilises the {{tag|OpenID}} universal login.  Referata also offered {{tag|Commercial License|commercial}} paid-for wiki hosting, with enhanced{{Clarify}} facilities.  All Referata sites supported [https://www.Google.com/analytics/ Google Analytics].

As of November 2016, the Referata [[developer]]s and other [[staff]] appear to have at least partially [[:Category:GoalAbandoned|abandoned]] the 'home' [[Referata (meta)]] wiki site. The feature requests page has dozens of requests that have seemingly been ignored, and the recent changes list is mostly full of new [[user]] account creations.  It seems like the site has become just a [[:Category:Dormant|dormant]] host for individual [[WhatIsWiki|wikis]].

The entire wiki farm was compromised by a malicious user in the spring of 2019, and all Referata sites went down. The service appeared to have been restored briefly, but soon went down again. As of August 2019, the vast majority of Referata sites now through a "Page Not Found" error message when attempting to visit. The main home wiki ("Referata Meta") will still connect intermittently but has no activity within the last 30 days and all attempts to register a new account fail.
